About
I am an early career Urban Planner with a focus on community development and transit. I have an extensive planning education, and recently completed my Masters Degree in Urban Planning and Public Policy at the University of Illinois Chicago, with a minor in Community Development. I also possess a Bachelors Degree in Urban Planning and Design from Ball State University, with a minor in Political Science.
I also have planning internship experience with a non-profit community development organization in Muncie, Indiana. There, I conducted neighborhood surveys, organized and moderated community meetings to gather resident input, and supported beautification efforts that produced visible improvements in the neighborhood. This resulted in a new park being built in the neighborhood that I helped design, which continued to strengthened my interest in community development. I also worked with the Muncie Land Bank, where I used vacant land surveys to identify redevelopment opportunities and connect local residents with potential new uses for vacant land. Alongside this planning work, I served as an assistant editor and social media manager for Public Opinion Quarterly, which sharpened my skills in research, writing, and public-facing communication.
I am currently seeking entry level planning opportunities along with opportunities in the broader community development field. I am extremely passionate about improving the city I live in for all its residents, and I believe that planning and community development work is the best way to do this. My interest in community development and improving neighborhoods for all their residents has continued to grow with my planning education, and I hope to be able to use this interest and passion in my professional career.
